We are fully inspected Kennel Club Assured Breeders, having been members of the scheme since its beginnings in 2004.
As an IKC/FCI Licensed judge.
I also very much enjoy a Judging career. My Current breeds include CAC / Championship Level Bouvier Des Flandres, Australian Shepherd, Rough Collie and Border Collie, as well as UK KC B list for Dogue De Bordeaux and Bouvier Des Flandres.
I am Honorary Secretary of Our National Bouvier Club and Breed Representative on the IKC An Ard Chomhairle.
The Mon Cher story began nearly 3 decades ago and the journey with our Bouviers and Schnauzers to this day has been life-changing.
A lifetime working in the Racing and Equestrian industry provided skills that transfered very naturally to a full time involvement with dogs.
It also came with the added benefit that I have yet to fall off a dog!
It was whilst I stood Chocolate de Meguro (Thoroughbred Stallion) at Stud that I met my first Bouvier Des Flandres.
My vet arrived one day accompanied by a Baby Bouvier and from that day on I was smitten. Very soon after my first lovely Bouvier Boy “Boot” joined me.
Boot and I made the giant leap across the water to Northern Ireland in 1997 (together with a small flock of sheep and several horses).
It was there that Boot Sired our first 3 Champions Extrovert, Serendipity and Optimist.
These were quickly followed by “Zena”, Irelands first DDB Champion and National Top Winning DDB.
Zena and her offspring led to a 12 year position as Vice Chairman of The Dogue De Bordeaux Club of Ireland.
“Brad” WW Multi Champion Trapwood Alonzo at Mon Cher arrived and proved to be not only World Champion, But the fabulous dog who changed my world.
His impact on my life was huge and everlasting – a true dog in a lifetime, and the inspiration for so many subsequent champions.
And then came the Schnauzers. Somewhat unexpectedly, but never regreted!
These little “Pocket Bouviers” have provided so much fun and love and we’re proud to have earned National Top Winning Schnauzer 2009 & 2012 and National Top Breeder.

We are very proud to have produced many champions around the world and continue to strive to produce ever better dogs for the show ring. Above all, competitive ambitions have never eclipsed our fundamental respect for a Happy, Healthy, Sane and Sound dog. Without these attributes, beauty is nothing, and we hope that each puppy born at Mon Cher, whether destined for glory or simple family companion, will carry into the world the ability to bring many years of loyalty, love, fun, and friendship.
